WHAT IS THE YACHT ENGAGED IN TRADE (YET) CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY ?

Aug. 11, 2021 |  Blog - Other yachting regulations -

A non-EU private registered vessel under temporary admission willing to charter can do so under a Yacht Engaged in Trade certificate of registry.

When the registration flag, approved by the French authorities, allows private vessels to engage in commercial activities, the vessel can do so in France (and Monaco) without paying VAT on the hull.

There are two flags allowing this specificity:

– The Marshall Islands flag (For yachts over 24 meters)
– The Cayman Islands flag (For yachts over 24 meters)

In these cases, the private yacht can charter up to 84 days per calendar year. Note that a new YET certificate of registry is needed before each charter.
