COVID-19 UPDATE : What are the available solutions for non-EU vessels stuck in the European Union because of the Coronavirus?

Mar. 31, 2020 |  Blog - Customs & Tax -

Due to the current health crisis, some vessels are stuck in the EU and have exceeded the maximum period allowed.

For example, a vessel under the temporary admission relief (that must NOT remain in the European Union for more than 18 months in a row) may be unable to touch a non-EU country within the allotted time due to COVID-19.

If you are in this situation, there is no need to panic. The French customs are allowing authorized economic operators (such as YMCA) to store non-EU goods under the customs warehouse regime during this health crisis. This means that we can set non-EU vessels, that are currently unable to be removed from the EU, in a customs warehouse in France. During this period that they are in storage, tax and duty will be suspended until everything returns to normal.

Do not hesitate to contact us should you be interested in this procedure.

Stay safe and take care.

Best regards,
